Visitor Tales

Here are some of the things recent visitors have told us about their holidays in West Cornwall. Why not send us stories of your holiday in West Cornwall?
Beautiful!!
We had a really great time on our first holiday to West Cornwall. We couldn't believe how beautiful this area is. We were blessed with 5 days of gorgeous sun shine, and the other two were cloudy although it still stay dry, so we were able to get out and about. The 300 bus is a must do, this open top bus takes you right around the coast and the children loved it, We would certainly recommend packing up a picnic and spending a day or seven sitting on any of the most beautiful beaches, we recommend Sennen, Porthcurno and Godrevy. On one of the cloudy days we went to Paradise Park, we all enjoyed it, and there is lots for children to do as well, a real winner for all the family. Can't wait to visit again, we are already looking at coming down in September.

Holiday in Carbis Bay
We had a wonderful time in West Cornwall recently. Stunning scenery, friendly people, and an excellent choice of restaurants. We stayed in a lovely B&B in Carbis Bay, just outside of St Ives. It was only a 15 minute walk in to town and a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Carbis Bay beach. We will hopefully be back again in October to explore a bit more.

Along a Cornish Branchline
"Along a Cornish branch line on a holiday in May, ‘Lelant’ towards ‘St Ives’ with a stop at ‘Carbis Bay’. Cross the tiny bridge; down the hill – and oh! the view! The glorious golden beaches matched by seas of azure blue. Molly Ben and Oliver playing on the sand, father sat in deck-chair hired - daily paper there to hand. When cross the sturdy viaduct the little train we spy, with families making best of golden sun and azure sky. St Ives the place of galleries; artists praise the light and the drinking houses ‘round the harbour open late into the night! Round the harbour s edge fishing boats await high tide The galleries and restaurants with doors still open wide Molly Ben and Oliver with supper on their knees when once again the little train passed on evening breeze To take me to my hotel room - another day is done! Of Cornish sea and Cornish sand and lots of Cornish sun! Andy "

Long weekend break
Well, we have just returned home from a long weekend break in West Cornwall, and what a fabulous time we had! After an easy drive down from the West Midlands we arrived in Marazion on the Friday lunch time. After settling in to our lovely B&B we walked out to St Michaels Mount and enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the late September sunshine. On the Saturday we took the train from St Erth to St Ives along the coast, the views were amazing. We had a leisurely lunch in St Ives then wandered around the little streets and did a bit of shopping (had a local pasty) before walking along the coastal path back to Lelant where we caught the train back again. On Sunday we walked along the promenade from Penzance Tourist Information Centre to the Jubilee pool, and then walked through the town and had a look around the Penlee Art gallery and had lunch in the Cafe there. In the afternoon we went along to the quaint fishing village of Mousehole and before we knew it it was time to go home. Cant wait to go back.... for longer

Children absolutely love it here
We have returned to West Cornwall for the past 7 years, as the children absolutely love it here. Safe, sandy beaches, good quality bed and breakfasts, a real home from home. We love making up a big picnic each day and setting out on our adventures. A favourite of ours is Porthcurno beach, beautiful white soft sand, a real sun trap, with the Minack Theatre and Porthcurno Telegraph Museum just above the beach, which the boys always love having a look at. There is plenty to see and do in this part of Cornwall, hence why we return each year.

Outstanding views everywhere you go
Returned home a month ago after a wonderful holiday in West Cornwall. Words cannot express how beautiful this area is. Outstanding views everywhere you go, friendly locals and great food. There are endless places to explore, we really enjoyed St Ives with all its hidden streets and art galleries. The coast path between St Ives and Zennor is a really beautiful walk, not for the faint hearted though, with an excellent pub at the end called the Gurnards Head which served really tasty local food. I would certainly recommend West Cornwall for a holiday or short break, we will hopefully be returning next year.
